Here is what it boils down to Brenda. Insecure males (the reason behind the popularity of Viagra and Cialis, they can't get it up unless they are dominant and the female submissive, just like the four legged critters we watch on National Geographic.

The empowerment of women and minoritities have left these insecure males feeling emasculated, and consider themselves victims of liberated women and minorities.

If they aren't in total control and command, then they play victim, and the number of books and magazine articles and blogs on the subject are legion, and disgustingly many are written by women, who feel that their sons are victimized, poor boys that can't be boys, or the man, who is their ultimate failsafe doesn't feel like a man.

Hi William: appreciate your reflections as a man! You are right about Moms who raise sons cocooned in hoary stereotypes. I had a job selling reading boosting programs, and so many Moms whose sons needed a boost would say: "Boys will be boys..." In laundromats, which I used for years, so many times a Mom with a little boy and a little girl would have the girl helping while the boy literally bounced off the walls all over the place, while Mom complained to the girl what a slob Dad was, he just threw his stuff on the floor.... My personal favorite, though, is the label "Young Lady...." So often used by Mom as shorthand for "...to be seen and not heard..."

The problem is that we are brainwashed by our parents and thus grow up to be our parents. My mothers family has (had) a dysfunctional legacy that stretched back to my great great grandparents who migrated from Germany in the 1860's (I find that fact of interest because I too am a great great grandparent and I was born in1939)

This dysfunctional legacy was passed on mother to daughter, including my mother and sisters, where as the men in the family, like myself and my mothers brother broke the chain.

Women were taught, chastised, to be self effacing, polite and submissive by their mothers, not their fathers. Most women speak different than men, rather than say, Will you stop at the store on the way home, they will say "are you going to stop at the store on the way home", and a sentence will end in an word with an upward inflection, making them appear weak and helpless, to please the man who needs to feel strong and empowered, it is all a game.. and we are all brainwashed, young boys are taught and expected to be tough, unemotional (except for anger and hatred)

My wife doesn't have the typical female speech pattern, where they talk like a little girlif she did I would not have married her, drives me up the wall, but she does have that irradiating habit of asking me indirectly, Rather than asking me directly.

instead of asking me "Will you go to town" she asks me "are you going to town, and my answer is no, and that frustrates her. I am trying to break her of that silliness.

I was born in 1941 and I appreciate your statements.

I broke out of the mold early and carved my own path.

Many more like you, there has been a decrease in the number of "valley girls" and an increase in the demand for Viagra, Cialis and InCels.

The two are related.
