Simple solution - when Harris wins the election President Biden should instruct the Justice department to indict the 6 conservative members of the Supreme Court on suspicion of treason. They should be held in custody until the election has been duly certified and Harris sworn in, then released.

Good point Bryan. SCOTUS has given Biden the power that he needs to save this country, if only he and his advisors had the balls and smarts. They apparently have neither, because he has allowed the fascists to retain control of the USPS, and he appointed a fox to guard the henhouse (Garland), and he revoked the executive order that Trump used to embed his humpers into DOJ, DOD, NHC, CBP, NSA, thus crippling himself and depriving himself of the ability to reverse the damage, by getting rid of Trump humpers and installing small d democrats, and that is not the only failure of bipartisan Joe

Do UPS Teamsters compete with the US post office for workers, salaries and benefits? Would that have something to do with Harris not being endorsed by the Teamsters although the locals are allowed to endorse Harris? I'm trying to understand?

Expand full comment

USPS employees belong to the Postal Workers Union and are not in competion with the teamsters.

The problem with the teamsters is that they spend their days on the road, listening to the radio, and the only radio other than music and sports is right wing hate radio. They are in essence mobile Fox viewers.

I'm sorry, but companies like Fed X, UPS, and many other carriers are in direct competition with the post office. Some are unionized.

We had a number of their cases under the Surface Transportation Assistance whistleblower Act. Gino Scalia was one of their lawyers.

Yes Daniel I know that FED X and UPS and DHL among other carriers are in direct competition with the USPS, and that the goal of people like DeJoy, the Chamber of Commerce and Wall Street is to privatize the USPS, at present it is, as is the Red Cross, a private non profit.

But the question was "is the teamsters union in competition with postal workers"(union) And the answer is no.

Hi Gloria! My opinion regarding why the national teamsters union did not endorse Harris is it's due to 2 things: 1) many of the union members are voting their racial prejudice (i.e. they are pro-Trump) over their economic interests (Harris is obviously more pro-worker), and 2) I think the union president (O'Brien) has personal interests/preferences for Trump to win (speculation, I have no specific knowledge on this point).

When Biden appointed Merrick Garland as AG, I knew then we were in deep shit.

Garland was vetted to Obama by Orrin Hatch R-UT. Hatch was the most radical right Senator in the Senate at that time., he also had worked for the Federalist society as a moderator. That told me all I needed to know.

Biden joined the Senate when the Senate Democrats were controlled by Dixiecrats, racists, and his mentors were racists. Senators were friends, they had dinner together, attended cocktail parties together. Comity and compromise were the unofficial rule.

Biden was reared politically, as a compromiser, bipartisan, and was not the man for the times, but it is in his blood, still.

And it is in the blood of the Democratic party leadership, maybe now they have had a transfusion and the film wiped off their eyes, but not when Obama was elected, not when Biden took office.

Senators make piss poor presidents, they are politicians who were raised to legislate and compromise. The best President we ever had, FDR, was a governor, and he knew how to govern and so he did.

Obama was not even a practiced senator, with only two years in the Job and nothing to his credit. He was a neophyte inside the beltway, he had no connections, he was prey, and jumped on by predators like Larry Summers and Rahm Emanuel, who "guided" him, they even "suggest" official advisors like national security advisors, economic advisors, etc.

Same is true for Trump, we know who Steven Miller is now, a racist exenophobic Jew, but Trump never heard of him, until he was told to appoint him as an advisor.

Trump didn't know any of the people he appointed as advisors and cabinet, there is a grise eminence behind the throne.

Basically the president, in most cases, is a figure head. The only power he has is to execute laws passed by congress, and he hires a staff, called the cabinet, which is supposedly approved by the Senate to do just that.

White House advisors are a work around, as is acting cabinet members, which Trump employed to full effect.

When Trump took office he was naive as to the powers that he had, and what he could do. The crap and subterfuges he has come up with are not his idea, he is not his own man, he is a carnival barker, a conman, the "Music man", a malignant narcissist, a malleable tool, and that tool is being used today by the likes of Elon Musk, and for J D Bowman Vance, Peter Thiel., but they aren't the only hands on the tool. There are other hands like Leonard Leo, and Kevin Roberts.

There is not one man behind the curtain, or one hand up the ass of a sock puppet, but many men and many hands.

I couldn't understand why Trump said we would need to use the National Guard or the military to control the blue voters after the election. Trump expects protestors in the streets when he steals the election in the manner Thom explained in the article.

The revolution that the founders started in 1787 was only a partial one; it will need to be completed by us, by abolishing the electoral college.

Thanks for this article Thom. I've been reluctant to write about my concerns regarding the fake electors and the House voting for Trump.

We need an electoral map like 1964, which is unlikely, to avert this scenario.

We need each and every eligible Democratic voter to cast their vote. Then hope Marc Elias and his legal team can stop the madness outlined above.

And if all else fails, send out the militias! I firmly believe that trump is just itching to call on his friends

("patriots" in his jargon) to keep the peace by knocking heads. It is so apparent that trump want violence & bloodshed, plenty of it. I wonder if they'll use that time to go into immigrant strongholds & start their round up early? I mean why wait, right, their guy is going to 'win' come hell or high water so they'll be ready to get the ball rolling.

What will the market think about all of this? I wouldn't much care about the market since they are all in it for themselves but I'm pretty sure that the market likes stability & violence & insecurity of the masses is NOT stable. I wonder if Jaime Daimond & his pals have thought about that! The mob mentality may just turn on banks! After all, how many people lost everything only to watch those responsible walk away unscathed? I distinctly remember the bail out money that went to the banks was used to buy up other banks that were supposedly weak, thus solidifying the banking system to an even smaller number of players with enormous wealth, capital & power.

So what do we do? I haven't got a clue. I donate upon donation, upon donation. I have an entire wardrobe of Harr/Walz swag. I've sent letters, can't do too much of that as the arthritis in my hands precludes doing much writing & the wisdom says that a handwritten letter or card is more likely to be read than a computer generated mailing.

You see all the news about what another trump term( & let's be honest it 'ain't gonna be 4 more years'. It's going to be ruler for life with a chosen successor at the ready.) what another trump rule would be like.

I'm 76 & live in a lovely senior mobile home part in the Santa Cruz mountains, it's blue area & when I walk I see a majority of Harris/Walz signs but my neighbor next door to me is older than I am & suffers from quite a few medical problems & he has a trump/Vance sign in his yard. Exactly what does he think trump is going to do for HIM? It certainly isn't going to make his life easier. What will happen to all of us in the park that are on Social Security & Medicare? The cost to buy a home in this part is quite high & while the rents are reasonable & provide a few amenities I can't see all of us being able to cover those expenses if we lose SS & Medicare, I know that I can't. So, are we going to see a bunch of homeless seniors living on the streets?

Well, goodness, I could go on, I feel like I could write a book but I won't continue. I think you get the idea & I apologize for going on. There was a lot I spoke about but I think this post makes sense & is not a word salad. At least I hope it's not.

You've given me an extra insight about "WAR"--that going to war is the result of having no deep understanding of how to make peace, how to achieve harmony, or how to be responsible for outcomes we find intolerable. An extreme example would be to disown a child if they will not bend to your will.

I believe that Harris and Dems already have addressed all these scenarios and we can only PRAY that they will have a plan in place. The answer is voting in numbers beyond what they anticipate. I also read in Hubbell’s newsletter that the part of the infrastructure bill that was put in addresses false electors and they will NOT be recognized from the states who try to replace the appointed electors.

We can thank Merrick Garland for not prosecuting Trump immediately after the insurrection and helping the Republicans gain control of the Congress two years later! We can thank Joe Biden for making all this possible!

We can also thank the church for creating so many virtuless lying sociopaths with the taxpayers help!

We can thank unregulated greed, and the billionaires who own all the media!

I don't know how long America will continue with this level of job growth with the GOP in charge. The Russians and Hungary their economies do not create jobs. What I am saying is that there are going to be a bunch of unwanted useless eaters due to the fact that the right wingers have stole trillions of dollars the last 65 years. The fate of all the social programs and the fate of the useless eaters, that includes the cult voters, may end up in rehabilitation camps to never be seen again? About 50 million is my guess. The ones who do not go there will be taken back in time to a Dickensian existence. America will lose the world reserve currency and be relegated to being a failed third world nation with global warming. With Trump as president I'm not sure how long this current social spending will exist. I tend to think less than 6 months, but I hope for 10 more years at least, so we can all get off the grid if possible if the forigners don't buy up all of our national parks and lands!

No arguing with Thom's facts, especially in light of the last coup attempt by Trump and his Nazi henchmen. However, the psychologist in me remains hopeful. I live in the Reddest county in Florida, Brevard. I have noticed a subtle change. People rarely discussed politics here socially because the MAGAs are impossible to reason with - the only facts in life are those alternative ones spewed from Trump's babblebox.

Back on July 3rd, while standing in the CVS checkout line in a working-class neighborhood just up A1A from us, the woman in front of me motioned me ahead of her. I thanked her but declined. Just to be social, I asked if she was getting ready for the coming torrent of politics this Fall. Her response shocked me. "Ya know, I don't understand why somebody hasn't put a bullet in Trumps head."

Shocked at what I just heard, I just smiled politely and said, "Me either." Of course less than 2 weeks later somebody actually did shoot at Trump. But the conversation tone was clearly a message of "Oh no, not again." Like me, the lady (likely Red) was fed up with the divisiveness and vitriol. Back in my neighborhood full of Two-Percenters, I noticed a small increase in discussions of the coming election. It was like, here we go again. Instead of voting FOR president, we must vote AGAINST the worst candidate.

Alas, that is how Biden got elected and likely might get Harris elected too - if the Blue turnout is higher than last time - and/or some Reds switch horses midstream. Of course, if my "silent majority" impression turns out to be correct, it still will not stifle a violent reaction. Like Trump, most MAGAs cannot cope with evidence that they keep choosing the wrong train. Thus one would logically expect tantrumps.

Hope Harris can win in an overwhelming way, this would make stealing the election less likely. Many people get all their info from Fox and Facebook. Posting on social media may be the only way to give some people real info. Free fee to post the following or make it better and post it:

Do billionaires really need a tax break? Warren Buffet said his secretary paid a higher tax rate than he did. Bill Gates said he should of had to pay much more in taxes than he had to.

When Republicans get in power, they usually cut taxes for the wealthy, this creates a bigger gap between top earners and the rest, drives up the national debt and usually the overall economy suffers greatly. Many billionaires see recessions as buying opportunities and a period of having cheaper labor.

Trump says he will cut taxes more for billionaires. Harris says she will get the wealthy to pay more of their fair share of taxes. She won’t raise tax rates on individuals making less than $400,000 and she wants a $6,000 child tax credit for the first year of birth. Biden and Harris have kept tariffs on China and now have increased those tariffs.

With the wealth already greatly going to the top, billionaires don’t need another tax break. Harris will be much better for the economy. But the main reason to vote for Harris is to keep our democracy. Let's continue to have a free democracy in the USA. Feel free to re post.
