Come to think of it he said today on Deadline White House: That section three of the 14th Amendment said that it applied to anyone who swore allegiance to the constitution, and Trumps lawyers are muddying the waters by misstating that it pertained to anyone who pledged loyalty to the United States.
To me that indicates that he is an originalist.
He didn't have an epiphany, he is a literal constitutionalist , in that the various states have all the power, except that conferred by the constitution as amended.
