Republicans like uneducated voters for just this reason and have been working toward this end since at least Reagan. These people vote against their own best interests repeatedly, and then blame the Democrats for their miserable lives.
I fear that we are all are facing a very unpleasant wake-up call. Who are we going to blame then?
To quote Walt Kelly's Pogo: "We have met the enemy and he us."
I don't think that's true anymore. More than half the population receives some form of government benefit now under the gun. That includes a lot of Republicans, now in the noose, -- even some Congressional Republicans. Multiply that by the national security issue, and financial siucide by tarriff, etc..
That is very true Martha. As a toothless bib overalled dude stood on his pallet step outside his one wide in Mississippi, gazing at his trash strewn lawn, told Alexandra Pelosi, when asked why he was opposed to food stamps, because them lazy colored folks don't deserve them, when she mentioned that you too get food stamps he said, that's different I deserve them.
We need to impress Congressional Republicans. Consider those who represent majority Dem districts. Who support Ukraine. Whose donors are being bankrupted by suicide tarriffs. Those who personally lost benefits.
E.G. in cow country, cattle/government subsidies/removal of alt engery tax writeoffs/loss of govenment susidies to research and development and infrastructure projects. All car dealers.

We need to enlist people affected.
Except the MAGA people who are adversely affected don't seem to care as long as the people they hate are also adversely affected.
