The hysteria from the Right of anything that seems “different “ from white conservative values (whatever those values are) is just posturing to allow racism and hate a voice. Because many people in our democracy don’t believe what some on the Right see as their ”god given” mandate to conform everyone to their so called Christian view, unfounded accusations are hurled against people of being “woke”, or “groomers” or “communist “ or “socialist “, etc. Hypocrisy on steroids is the right wing mantra of patriotism and values that is coded to keep women and people of color as well as LGBT people in their second class place. In my whole lifetime (since the 60’s) I still am waiting for equal rights to be a reality in this country. And here we have a Republican house majority (what does that tell you about the willfully ignorant voters?? ) and a Supreme Court that can wipe out years of any gains for equal rights and I for one am sick and tired of the rule from the minority right wing crazies.
