The hysteria from the Right of anything that seems “different “ from white conservative values (whatever those values are) is just posturing to allow racism and hate a voice. Because many people in our democracy don’t believe what some on the Right see as their ”god given” mandate to conform everyone to their so called Christian view, unfounded accusations are hurled against people of being “woke”, or “groomers” or “communist “ or “socialist “, etc. Hypocrisy on steroids is the right wing mantra of patriotism and values that is coded to keep women and people of color as well as LGBT people in their second class place. In my whole lifetime (since the 60’s) I still am waiting for equal rights to be a reality in this country. And here we have a Republican house majority (what does that tell you about the willfully ignorant voters?? ) and a Supreme Court that can wipe out years of any gains for equal rights and I for one am sick and tired of the rule from the minority right wing crazies.
I am continually astounded by the “creativity” of these rightwingers in promulgating bias, fear of the other and intolerance to keep a fervent, ensnared base of voters, who willfully continue not to see the overreaching inequities being brought about by the Republican Party particularly. Eventually the cancerous inequities will bring us all down, as well as most of the rightwingers responsible for this madness.
It is quite an effort for the Right leaning justices to maneuver any request for civil rights violations into special code labels to assure the Public that they aren’t biased.
Ok ill call that the Supreme Court’s BS rule.
They can take any label that justifies bias and give it a constitutional glow, which , in their opinion makes it reasonable. Its pervasive perversity works for them to justify rulings against the Constitution , kind of like Donald Trump , but with more three syllable words .
Is there going to be a niche market for "Christian" bigots? Does Ms. Smith think she's got a great business model?
We are in the midst of what I like to call gender chaos. Most of us forget some of the letters of the descriptors. That said, I fully support the change, open lifestyles, and equal rights under the law. The youth of this nation is not going back to the dark ages on any of this whether they can prosecute the bigots or not. THEY will pass the equal rights laws eventually.
Will & Grace and Modern Family are so much more relatable than the Bible and Ms. Smith. I sure as hell wouldn't hire her. Lucky for her, Christ was all about forgiveness.
What I don't understand is, if she has never been asked to do what she is complaining about, how the hell does she have any standing? Inquiring minds want to know.
