Sadly, it is too different today. The terrible SCOTUS decisions won’t impact enough people quickly enough to create the outrage the decisions of the Four Horsemen did in the 1930’s. Indeed, millions of “Americans” actively support the decisions, as they perceive them as assisting their faux orange demigod. Add on a President whose cognitive issues have a far more public impact than FDR’s physical ones and a far less friendly Congress, toss in a media controlled by the morbidly rich and delighted (because its owners ignore history) at the prospect of a second coming of their eyeball grabbing flatulent son of Satan, and there is little likelihood this SCOTUS will feel any pressure to become more moderate or is at any risk of actual sanctions for its corruption. Given the arrogance of the Gang of Six, it is more likely they will just double down, because they can.

If our country is worth saving, if it has any hope of resuming its incremental March forward in realizing its aspirational values, that must start with the bluest November possible. Each day that goes by with the Democratic Party in disarray makes that unlikely. I rage at my severe physical and financial limitations, both preventing me from having much power to affect that. Thanks to the Bulwark, I can at least rage against the coming of the looming darkness…
