What needs to be said is that these mass murders are the responsibility of the REPUBLICAN PARTY. The blood is on their hands. They absolutely refuse any gun laws no matter how small. They constantly preach gun rights and IGNORE the rights of the victims. As a result we have laws like Open Carry on our streets. We have 18.66 million concealed carry permits in the USA. We have more guns then we have citizens. The next mass murder is SOON! Right now, only the Republicans can stop it. What are the rights of the future victims?

As long as money is equal to speech and corporations enjoy the rights of citizens, our elected Republicans (and some number of Democrats) will behave as sociopathic rent boys (and girls) who are willing to have people die so they can get reelected. This has metastasized into our nascent oligarchy, and is the root cause of all of our planet’s big problems (except, perhaps, tectonic activity and asteroids). Move To Amend probably won’t be successful in time to stop the gun oligarchs from their oligarching, which makes it even more important to implement Thom’s marketing idea of injecting the power of visual images into the public debate about gun violence in America. In addition, I suggest that we seize the messaging and framing of the issue by using content that Thom has already authored in “The Hidden History of Guns and the Second Amendment.” Specifically, use Thom’s proposed regulations, like gun owners must register their guns, insure them against any badness that they might cause others, and prove that they know how to use them safely. I think we need to make these suggested gun control concepts part of the unintelligible Second Amendment (as well as rewrite it so it makes sense). 68% of Americans don’t own guns, so why should the other 32% of us have the ability to share their negative externalities without being responsible for the pain, suffering and costs their weapons cause? The answer is, they shouldn’t. The symbiotic relationship between the gun manufacturers and the Republicans is particularly lucrative for both because every time there is another mass shooting, gun sales spike, and the 32% of us who own guns get their hate/anger/righteous indignation neurons all whipped up again. (invigorated lizard brains are easily manipulated by smart repression techniques.) One last tactic that they virtually always use is seizing the victimhood in any situation. It should be easy to prove that the victims in this conflict are not the gun owners, rather they are those of us who do not own guns but have to pay for the damages that they cause.
