For me, the Catholic mumbo-jumbo does not equate with reading and interpreting law. Religion is magical thinking based on myths. The only mass SCOTUS should worry about is the mass of people their rulings affect.

Very much appreciate your expertise, Daniel, and the historical info.

Thanks. I once asked Breyer what the hell he was doing by attending the Red Mass. I have attended mass many times, went to Catholic school but my parents pulled me out after I called the Rabbi Father Lipschitz. Nothing wrong with ecumenicism. But there is no mention of a god, be it Deist, Presbyterian or Baal in the Constitution. The joke is that when the Constitution was written Catholics and Jews could not take the oath of office in most of the states.

When I attended Mass, the priest would end his sermon with "That is the word of the lord".

I would choke, because he was playing ventriloquist. It is the same with protestant preachers, they make pretense that they are channeling their god.

All of them use something called god as a sock puppet.
