Thank You VERY much for bringing this up. I have been saying for a long time that these so called pro-life wack jobs are actually pro-birth because they could care less about women and children after they are born and prove it everyday when they seek to gut every safety net available.

Is there anything today's Republican Party stands for that is not a travesty of justice and decency? Seriously, name one thing of consequence they have done or have tried to do that does not drag society backward and retard the progression of human thought. Oh, but God is on their "side," don't ya know. And everyone else is a goddamn heathen who doesn't deserve the same privileges as a white Christian male.

Democracy for me, not for thee. Biden and the Democrats in Congress are running out of legislative time to protect the vote before they lose power again in 14 short months. That's the plan anyway. Priorities.

Yes, democrats need to fight dirty because that is what republicans have done for a long time, trying to be undercover. After Trump, the cats out of the bag, it's obvious what they are doing and people blatantly want to ignore it.

You know, I basically agree with you, I'm tired of Democrats refusing to leave the high ground when the serious action is in the mire. But when you play dirty, you get dirty. I fear the Dem party becoming as jaded and corrupt as Republicants. On the other hand, if they don't, they will continue to have their asses handed to them. It's a dilemma with no good answer, IMHO.

I agree but how do you reign in these powers that are out of control. I realize that democrats are not always pearly white and it’s unfortunate that people often vote for the lesser of two evils. I’ll take my chances with democrats.

Spot on, as usual. A problem not unique to Texass, but that state comes in as the worst in so many areas of public health and welfare, year after year. These assholes are not pro life, they are merely pro birth.

I'm surprised the federal government hasn't stepped in yet. During the worst of the Jim Crow era, Kennedy and Johnson sent federal troops to protect Blacks trying to vote and enter schools. Why can't they get involved and sue then entire state of Texass for child abuse?

I am agnostic. If they gave out cards for that, I would qualify and carry it. My religion is that I don't know how "IT" all works and neither does anyone else, especially those who claim the authority to tell us. But, I just read something that made sense of the human need for religion. It was about how it tracks with what psychologists know, that humans crave connection. Just picture religious services, weddings, funerals, and holidays; people are moving, responding, singing, and eating TOGETHER.

The religious unification around abortion makes sense in the context of their beliefs, but there is no way the rest of the nation should have to accept their belief as our law. They don't want Sharia law, and most of America doesn't want their version of it.

You'd think the one thing we could come together about is how to make kids' lives bearable and to create the human connections kids need. I know Democrats have fought for children's rights and their welfare. What have Republicans done? They fought those programs, and they still are. If there is a god.....

I figure when a fetus is viable and can live outside the womb it can be called a person. before then it is essentially a parasite. Crude and without emotion, but true.

They use religion to justify their cause. I say one’s spirituality is personal and they will be accountable to their own god or themselves.

If you are Christian and want to protect the rights of the unborn. How could you not protect the rights of the born?

I always have to refer to my brother in laws case in this matter. He had a marketing business that was killed by the 2008 Bush Depression. He lived in TX. Just prior to the depression he had bought a new house planning on selling the old house. This was SOP at the time. The depression hit. His business cratered. TX has no income tax but has super high property taxes to make up for it. He had no income but 2 nice properties. The state foreclosed. The homes were underwater. His wife divorced him. She got alimony based on income from a previously profitable company. She carried the medical insurance that he now was not on. Medical insurance of $1200 per month is impossible when you are broke. About then he was feeling weak. He had colen cancer. TX does not have Medicare. He died after a colonoscopy pierced his intestine. We only learned the story after his death.

Your story and Jo's are sadly examples of what is the absolute opposite of the "American dream". Time for others to face reality and tell the truth about a greedy for-profit system. Thank you both for fighting back and spreading the word.

So sorry for your loss. You likely couldn't sue because of the protections they give to doctors, hospitals and insurance companies, informed consent. I am horrified at getting sick. I had a friend who had a badly broken leg which cost around a quarter of a million to repair. He HAD insurance but he couldn't afford the 20 % he was responsible for. One of the wealthiest surgery practices in the country, in Aspen Colorado came after him. He was forced to mortgage his house which he later lost and ended up living in a camper. He had 11K left to pay on his house.
