On this Thanksgiving weekend, I thought you may find of value a short (less than 5 minutes) collection of my favorite 5 clips from President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Farewell Address at the end of his presidency, as he peacefully handed the reins of American power over to President John F. Kennedy.
Although it was given a few months after Thanksgiving, it carries a concern, a warning, a call to protect future generations, and ends with a prayer for peace, understanding, and — from this old warrior who defeated the Nazis and saved the world from fascism in WWII — love.
And it can be listened to by both Democrats and Republicans without fear of partisanship! (There’s a 3 second or so break between clips.)
Sending warmest Thanksgiving wishes from our family to yours…
— Thom & Louise
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Louise, your family, and the entire THS team. If anything, I'm thankful for you, Thom Hartmann, as well as Louise and every member of your staff, who keep me informed, engaged, committed, intrigued, active, and a better human being for it. Your immense knowledge, love for humanity, uncompromised morals, selfless devotion to uncovering and spreading the truth to the massess is unmatched by any other I know in this world. You are truly a gift to behold. May you always have good health, sound mind, strong voice, and a crew to continue the tremendous contribution you make daily. And may you always have love, laughter, peace, and hope fill each day you grace us here on Earth. Thank you for giving me and the world some sanity in weary times and fuel to remain vigilant in the days ahead. Much love, respect, admiration, and thankfulness, xoxo Frances in Cottage Grove, WI
Thank you!
Thank you, Thom. We really need those words now with the country we are living in now. I believe his words to mean what we as a people must do to make this a better country for all people to live in. Happy thanksgiving to you and yours as well.
Thanks, Thom. I didn’t know Eisenhower was such a smart guy..
My dad served under him, but I remember (barely) them voting for Stevenson.
